This platform is an archival space for objects, drawings, or builds from early childhood, which are often overlooked or underestimated. Here, you can upload children’s artifacts and become part of a global collection.

“Childhood Artifacts” highlights the creative expressions of children, created free from adult influences. This collection features objects and drawings from the immediate world of children aged three to eight, during which they can express themselves unfiltered and freely.
This fleeting phase of early childhood offers a unique view of our world. Esteemed artists like Joan Miró, Wassily Kandinsky, or Jean Dubuffet have strived throughout their lives to see the world again through the eyes of a child. This exhibition encourages us to reverse the disenchantment of the world and to experience every object and every phenomenon anew, as children do.

As art theorist Konrad Lange stated, “Become like the children, which is the golden rule that could be given to all artists.” Henri Matisse described it this way: “One must be able to see the world as a child does throughout one’s life.”

This platform was created by Till Könneker for the exhibition “Childhood Artifacts” at _artundweise kunst- und denkraum in Bern, Switzerland. August 15 – September 6, 2024.
